When to Choose a Safety Boot Over a Shoe

NewsID:161    Datetime:2010-12-29

There are a number of different places you may work that require safety footwear. You have a choice between getting a safety boot or a safety shoe. The choice of which depends a great deal on what occupation you have.

Safety Shoes

Unlike safety boots, shoes are a little bit easier to walk in; they tend to be a little more stylish and made of materials that move slightly better. Shoes are more common to find in occupations that do not require constant lifting or heavy objects. Rather places that simply have moving that takes pace and few other dangers.

Work Boots

Safety boots have extra safety features included. They go above your ankle to protect your ankle and heel from getting punctured by sharp objects. They tend to not be as easy to walk in, but the extra thick material means that you will not get cuts from running into nails and other painful and potentially dangerous objects. This is especially important with places that have a lot of rust, not just places that have sharp object since rusty cuts can lead to a great deal of infection.

Safety boots have the most protective features and offer the most support. They are usually created with other protection such as electrical dampeners and thicker soles.

When you need just a little bit of protection, a shoe will usually suffice. Freight workers and people that work with boxes but not necessarily in dangerous areas can usually get by with a shoe alone without requiring the full protection of the safety boots. But  work boots are a far better choice for those that require a lot of protection because their occupations put them at a constant risk for heavy objects and puncture wounds.
